2nd March 2008 Windsurfing: West Mersea Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: 20mph Surf / Sea State: river chop Air Temperature: 11.5 Sea Temperature: 8 Weather: sun + cloud Max Speed: 24.3 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 23.7 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Got down about 10:30 and about five windsurfers and a couple of kiters were out. Ian came shotly afterwards and Mark about an hour later; about10 windsurfers and 8 kiters out altogether. Wind was comfortable 6m for blasting back and forth, though river chop was partcularly bad when the wind was strongest, but good practice. For the last half hour the river flattend but the wind had dropped to just about planing which was a pity speedwise. Sailed across the river once but wind wa a bit light the other side so did not do that again - measured it as 2.9km (1.8miles). Overall a very enjoyable session with a couple of hours on the water.
